BLACKPINK: Things To Know About The Hottest Girl Group

BLACKPINKBLACKPINK is a four-member girl group under YG Entertainment. They debuted on August 8, 2016, with their digital single album “Square One”.
BLACKPINK is arguably this generation’s most successful and popular K-Pop idol girl group. They don’t even have a full-length studio album yet, but they’ve managed to release hit after hit with just singles and dominate the US music market with major record label Interscope gladly taking them under their wings.
In addition, they were recently announced as the very first K-Pop girl group to ever be performing at the Coachella music festival this year, and their performance is reportedly going to be live-streamed in New York City Times Square by YouTube.

Four Member of BlackPink

BLACKPINK

There are four members in K-Pop band, Blackpink. There’s Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé and Lisa. Lisa and Jennie are the band’s rappers, while Jisoo and Rosé head up vocals.

Jisoo

BLACKPINK jisoo

Role: Lead vocalist.
Nickname: Chichoo.
Real name: Kim Ji Soo.
Born: January 3, 1995.
Jisoo is undoubtedly the mood-maker of Blackpink. Her 4D personality gives her a unique demeanor within the group, and her quirkiness makes her a breath of fresh air. The 24-year-old Seoul-born lead vocalist trained for five years before debuting with Blackpink and was the third member to be revealed. The oldest of the group, Jisoo is trilingual and can speak Korean, Japanese, and Chinese. However, she doesn’t speak English because she’s too shy to do so according to groupmate Jennie, but she can understand it just fine. So if you ever want to tell her how much she slays and you can’t speak Korean, worry not. She loves trying different types of food, balancing things on her head, and being a free spirit.

Jennie

Role: Main rapper, lead vocalist.
Nickname: Jendeukie, NiNi.
Real name: Kim Jennie.
Born: January 16, 1996.
Blackpink’s main rapper, who also sings, Jennie was a “trainee” for just shy of six years — the longest of the members. (Under the trainee system in South Korea, aspiring pop idols audition with entertainment agencies to become trainees with the hopes of one day debuting as an artist.) Jennie lived in New Zealand for a period before moving back to South Korea in 2010 and speaks fluent English in addition to Korean and Japanese. She was the first member of Blackpink to release an individual track, titled “SOLO.” The music video showcased her versatility as both a rapper and singer, while further establishing her as a fashion icon through the more than 20 outfits worn within the three-minute clip.

Rose

Role: Lead vocalist, main dancer.
Nickname: Rosie.
Real name: Park Chae Young.
Born: February 11, 1997.
K-Pop star Roseanne Park’s birth name is Park Chaeyoung. She can play the piano and guitar. Rose was born in Auckland, New Zealand, but grew up in Melbourne, Australia.
She actually might not have ended up in BLACKPINK if her dad had not booked a ticket to the city where YG auditions were being held in Australia. Rose lived in the rural area of Australia, and her dad always knew that his daughter had dreams of becoming a singer, which explains why he was swift to get her a ticket to the city and have her try out for the auditions.
She ended up killing it in the auditions and coming out as a first place in the YG auditions in Australia that year.

Lisa

Role: Main rapper, main dancer.
Nickname: Lalice.
Real name: Lalisa Manoban.
Born: March 27, 1997.
Lisa was always known to have a keen interest in dancing. Hailing from Thailand, she quickly signed up for the YG auditions that were taking place in her country and became the only applicant to pass.
In April 2011, Lisa became an official YG Entertainment trainee. Because she was from Thailand, she did initially have a language barrier problem but was able to learn the Korean language quickly through private classes, along with the help of the other members too of course.
