Bang Chan: The Leader of Stray Kids

Early life and career

Bang Chan moved to Sydney, Australia with his family when he was five years old. He attended Newtown High School of the Performing Arts, where he studied music and dance. He auditioned for JYP Entertainment in 2010 and became a trainee at the age of 13. Bang Chan trained for seven years before debuting with Stray Kids.

He was one of the participants in the survival show Stray Kids on October 17, 2017. He debuted with the group on March 25, 2018, with the mini album I am NOT and its title track “District 9”. Bang Chan is part of the sub-unit 3Racha along with Changbin and Han.

Achievements and activities

Bang Chan has shown his talent and versatility in various fields. He is the main composer, lyricist, and producer of Stray Kids’ songs, having credits for over 130 songs registered with Korea Music Copyright Association (KMCA). He also participates in the arrangement, recording, and mixing of the songs.

Bang Chan has released several solo works as part of the SKZ-PLAYER series, such as a dance performance on “Psycho” by Red Velvet in April 2020, and a self-composed song “Streetlight” featuring Changbin in April 2020.

He is also known for his leadership skills, charisma, and communication abilities. He hosts a weekly live broadcast on V Live called Chan’s Room, where he interacts with fans and shares his music recommendations. Bang Chan can speak English, Korean, and Japanese. Personality and interests

Bang Chan is described as a caring, passionate, and hardworking person. He likes to listen to Drake, Post Malone, and Logic’s songs, watch action movies, play soccer, and swim. His favorite food is pizza and his favorite fruit is mango. He has several tattoos on his body, such as a compass on his left shoulder, a kangaroo on his right ankle, and a rose on his left wrist.

Bang Chan is very close to his fellow members, especially Woojin, whom he considers his best friend. He also has a cute and humorous side, often making jokes and puns. He likes animals and has two pet dogs named Berry and Lucky. His habit is cracking his knuckles.

Bang Chan wanted to become a singer because he loves music and performing. His role model is JYP Entertainment’s founder Park Jin-young. If he wasn’t in Stray Kids, he would be a songwriter or a teacher.
